In life, we own it to other people to see them enjoy their health to the fullness. The recent gesture showed by THE Redeemed Christian Church of God, Calvary Parish Province 27, Lagos, to provide free healthcare services and relief materials to residents of Mafoluku, Oshodi and its environs is worthy of praise.
The gesture included eye checks, heart screening, blood sugar, malaria, Body Mass Index, BMI, tests among others, as part of the activities to mark the 21st anniversary of the Parish.
Spokesperson for the Parish, Pastor Jeffery Agambi, said the inspiration was drawn from Christ who mandated the Church to help the needy.
“The programme is another way to reach out to our immediate community and help provide solutions to their health challenges through the help of our nurses and doctors without any charge for tests conducted or medicine given afterwards.
“We do this to assist people as we are aware that our health system is challenged.
“Our health system is still not yet perfect. This is one way the Church also supports the system to make it work. So many people have ailments that doctors can attend to and prescribe drugs.”
The Outreach Coordinator, Mr. Joel Nwokeoma, said the essence of the medical outreach was to impact and provide medical services to members of the community where the church is located.
“Our General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye had set up a corporate responsibility arm, to ensure the Church takes the gospel from the pulpit to the communities and that is what we are doing.
“This year is better than the previous years because we have a strategic partnership with Emzor Pharmaceutical and Chike Okoli Foundation and they supplied large quantity of drugs and also gave us some medical personnel to work with us. We are also partnering with Phamatex Industries.”
