Most time as a result of being ignorant of the finished work of Christ Jesus, believers call themselves names that are not inline with God's word and the finished work of Christ.
I am sure you must have heard questions or expressions like "are you a candidate of heaven" or "you must be a candidate of heaven". Such expressions are born out of ignorance. A believer in Christ Jesus is NEVER a CANDIDATE of Heaven. You will never find such expressions like that in the bible.
A believer as far as the scripture is concerned is not a CANDIDATE of HEAVEN but a CITIZEN of HEAVEN. Take a look at the bible verses below; Phillipians 3 vs 20 AMP But [WE are different, because] OUR CITIZENSHIP is in HEAVEN. And from there we eagerly await [the coming of] the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Did you notice the word "CITIZENSHIP?" Take a look at another scripture; Hebrews 12 vs 23 AMP And to the general assembly and assembly of the firstborn WHO ARE REGISTERED [as CITIZENS] in heaven, and to God, who is Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous (the redeemed in heaven) who have been made perfect [bringing them to their final glory], Did you notice the word CITIZENS in that verse again? You are registered in heaven already.
Let me give you one more scripture and that will be all; Ephesians 2:19 (AMP) So then YOU are NO LONGER strangers and aliens [outsiders without rights of citizenship], but YOU are FELLOW CITIZENS with the SAINTS (God’s people), and are [MEMBERS] of God’s household, I believe the above scriptures are clear enough. The next time anybody ask you "are you a candidate of heaven?" Politely reply by saying you are not a CANDIDATE but a CITIZEN of HEAVEN.
